Update: Police in an update Tuesday said the woman, 24-year-old Brittany Johnson, died of natural causes. Investigators don’t believe any crime was involved in her death, police said.
One of two adult family members inside the residence called 911, APD spokesman MJ Thim said.
Original story: Anchorage police were investigating the death Saturday of a woman they say died inside a mobile home in South Anchorage, police said in a statement.
Officers responded to a call from medics around 9:48 a.m. asking for help with a woman who had died inside a home on the 9400 block of Brayton Drive, according to the statement. The home is in the Southwood Manor mobile home community.
Sgt. Kelley Huston, who was on the scene Saturday morning, said the woman was originally reported as unconscious and not breathing. Evidence at the scene prompted her to ask the crime scene team to take a closer look at the incident, she said, but the woman’s death isn’t being called suspicious at this point.
“There were things that I saw as a supervisor when I responded that I’d rather them look at and then determine whether or not there’s anything suspicious,” Huston said.
The medical examiner will determine the woman’s cause of death, police said.
